Dear Nicki,

As my elected representative in Parliament, and a member of the Local Government and Environment Committee I thought you would be well qualified to address some questions I have about the Super City Legislation.

1. The National Party Policy for local government 2008 states clearly and succinctly that National will "Consult with Aucklanders once the findings of the Royal Commission are known."* Why did this not happened?

2. Surely National was brought to power on its policies. Is this an indication that other policies will be completely ignored?

3. Why has the National Government pushed through two Bills under urgency. And only allowed a compressed term for the Select Committee on the third bill that will enact the super city?

4.What's the rush?

5 Do you, as our representative in Parliament, truly believe that Aucklanders have been consulted on the issues surrounding the super city?

6. Your constituents, as rate payers have a stake in the 28 billion dollars of assets currently controlled by councils. Do you understand my concern that there has been no cost benefit analysis done on the council owned companies
that will control the assets of Aucklanders? This is a recommendation of the Royal Commission.

7. How is it that the Auckland City Transitional Board was announced at 12.30 pm today when the Local Government (Tamaki Makaurau) Reorganisation Act has not been signed off yet by the Governor General?

8. Is this disregard for the law going to continue under the National Government?

If you could please respond to these questions in a timely mannerI will then be able to take a qualified stance on this very contentious issue.

Regards
